    Great bag!

I purchased the Chobe 16" bag just before going on a photo trip to Nome & Utqiagvik (Barrow). I'm extremely pleased with how lightweight and spacious it is yet able to fit under the seat on the plane. Love the zippers, when the bag is filled to slightly over stuffed the zippers make it easy to close. The Chobe is a well made bag, I will be using it for all of my trips to carry essential clothing & toiletries (in case my checked bag gets lost) as well as excess camera gear!

    Thank you Gura Gear!

Great bag - but smaller than the original

I've just received by new bag. As expected, it is well built and well thought out. One thing to note, though, comparing the bag with my old Chobe, the 16" bag isn't actually as large as the original Chobe (height and depth - smaller by about an inch for both). For me this makes it less useful as a travel bag (less overall volume), but more useful as a day to day bag (more compact). So for those with an original Chobe, be careful...

    Versatile and Convenient

The Gura Gear 16” Chobe Everyday carry bag is an absolute game-changer for my travel needs! As a photographer carrying essential gear like my laptop, a full-frame camera, multiple lenses, and various accessories, this bag has been a lifesaver.

What sets it apart is its remarkable versatility and convenience. Not only does it comfortably fit all my equipment, but its design allows me to slide it onto the luggage handle of my carry-on, making airport navigation a breeze. No more juggling multiple bags!

One of the standout features for me is its adaptability – perfect for those who prefer not to wear a backpack but still need to carry significant gear. The bag's quality construction ensures the safety of my equipment while maintaining a sleek, professional look.

For anyone seeking a reliable, spacious, and effortlessly portable camera bag, I highly recommend the Gura Gear Chobe Everyday carry bag. It's truly a must-have for travelers and photographers alike!

    The King is Back

It is just as good a briefcase as a camera bag, and it is just as good a camera bag as a weekend-away duffle bag, too. If you’re searching for a shoulder bag, not a backpack, the Chobe 2.0 is as close to “the one” as I think you’re ever likely to find. The king is back, and I’m glad to be able to recommend this bag to people again.

Great bag, very flexible, extremely lightweight

I just received my Chobe 2.0 last week and decided to take it as my "suitcase" for a quick hiking trip to the Grand Canyon to try it out. The bag is extremely light, seems to be very well made, and had a surprising amount of room to stuff clothing and other gear - including hiking shoes, a laptop, and an iPad - into.

While I didn't use the Chobe for the actual Rim-to-Rim hike, of course, it made for a great carryon bag for the trip. I imagine I'll be using it very frequently to carry camera gear and more.

"It's hard to find a good bag for long lenses that will travel safe, but this backpack does it all and does it well! In a recent trip to Alaska, I had my Sony a1 with the 400mm f2.8, Sony a7R4 with the 70-200mm f2.8, along with GoPro, filters, cables and more packed in it, and it fit in the overhead bay in all flights! Now with the Chobe messenger bag, this is THE BEST overall solution for those who plan on flying with long lenses and lots of gear. Great job GG!"

    Our History

Solving for a critical need: Weight

Co-founders Trevor Peterson and renowned wildlife photographer Andy Biggs created Gura Gear to answer a problem critical to traveling to extreme locations: weight limits on photo gear.

En-route independently to East Africa, both Andy and Trevor got into some trouble with the carryon restrictions at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. “I had packed two Nikon Pro DSLR bodies and 200-400mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, & 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, putting me past the weight limits. It took some convincing to get in the air, "-Trevor.

Talking over the campfire after a long day of photographing wildlife, Andy and Trevor discussed what the perfect camera bag would be. Literally on the back of napkin, the Kiboko backpack was sketched out.

Over two years of development, eight rounds of prototypes, and one patent application later (and one very frustrated factory manager), the Kiboko camera backpack was launched.
