    Nice Bag

I previously purchased the 13" which has limited use and probably could be discontinued in favor of the 16" which I purchased earlier this year but had to wait until the first week of October for delivery just in time for my New Zealand Trip. I used it without the insert as I found the insert took up too much space as I was using this as a partial camera bag and travel bag. Without the insert I could fit in the main pocket a Z9 Camera, 100-400mm Nikon lens, Swarovski 8x42 Binoculars, a toiletry bag, a cable bag with all my adaptors, plugs and cables along with some socks, underwear, T shirt and light rain jacket. I also carried a 13" Macbook Air, an iPad mini and other small items like sunglasses, reading glasses, passport. This stretched the bag but still allowed it to fit under the seat on the plane:-). This allowed me to put clothing, shoes and another long lens in a carry on suitcase.

    Chobe 16" suggestions

Love this bag. Just received it last week. Packed a Z9 and Z 100-400 in the middle. section after taking out the insert and reinserting it with only one divider. Suggest 2 things. Include a snap buckle or velcro buckle to gather the 2 carrying straps together when holding the bag. Another suggestion would be an identification card holder which could be inserted in one of the small velcro pockets. Like a luggage ID without the strap. Michael Heller MD, Stuart Florida

    Great bag!

I purchased the Chobe 16" bag just before going on a photo trip to Nome & Utqiagvik (Barrow). I'm extremely pleased with how lightweight and spacious it is yet able to fit under the seat on the plane. Love the zippers, when the bag is filled to slightly over stuffed the zippers make it easy to close. The Chobe is a well made bag, I will be using it for all of my trips to carry essential clothing & toiletries (in case my checked bag gets lost) as well as excess camera gear!

    Thank you Gura Gear!

"It's hard to find a good bag for long lenses that will travel safe, but this backpack does it all and does it well! In a recent trip to Alaska, I had my Sony a1 with the 400mm f2.8, Sony a7R4 with the 70-200mm f2.8, along with GoPro, filters, cables and more packed in it, and it fit in the overhead bay in all flights! Now with the Chobe messenger bag, this is THE BEST overall solution for those who plan on flying with long lenses and lots of gear. Great job GG!"

    Our History

Solving for a critical need: Weight

Co-founders Trevor Peterson and renowned wildlife photographer Andy Biggs created Gura Gear to answer a problem critical to traveling to extreme locations: weight limits on photo gear.

En-route independently to East Africa, both Andy and Trevor got into some trouble with the carryon restrictions at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. “I had packed two Nikon Pro DSLR bodies and 200-400mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, & 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, putting me past the weight limits. It took some convincing to get in the air, "-Trevor.

Talking over the campfire after a long day of photographing wildlife, Andy and Trevor discussed what the perfect camera bag would be. Literally on the back of napkin, the Kiboko backpack was sketched out.

Over two years of development, eight rounds of prototypes, and one patent application later (and one very frustrated factory manager), the Kiboko camera backpack was launched.
