    Materials

    The external shell fabric used for our Kiboko line is X-Pac® VX-21 by Dimension Polyant which is extremely lightweight, durable and weather resistant.

    The internal padding used on our dividers is Artilion foam which is the same padding used in motorcycle helmets. The reason we use this for the dividers of our bags is because Artilion foam gets stronger as it becomes more compressed therefore protecting your gear maximally. It is also extremely light weight.

    Gura 30L

    Overall wonderful camera backpack. I easily fit 400mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, Z9 and Z8. However, the laptop compartment zipper does not extend to the length of the sleeve and prevents my inserting the lap top. Big disappointment

    Best Bag for Large Telephotos

    If you need to carry a lot of gear, including a large telephoto lens, this is the bag for you. Over the years I’ve used numerous camera bags from different manufacturers, and although some of the bags held most of my gear, I could never quite fit all of my gear and some of the bags were so stuffed they were hard to zip up. Although this bag is similarly in size to some of my other bags, this is the first one that holds my mirrorless camera, large telephoto, medium telephoto, wide angle and ultra wide angle lenses and all the other filters and accessories I use without being overstuffed. It’s nice and light, seems durable and I am very happy with it.

    handle needed on bottom

    First let me say i LOVE this bag. I have bought and tried MANY different bags and this is by far the best I have ever used. The one thing it is missing is some kind of minimalistic handle (not has big and sturdy as the side and top handles) on the bottom. When you have this open on a bed or table or ground and there is a need to move it, there is no way to gently pick it up. Say, for example, you have it on your bed packing it for a trip and you need to move it to the floor without having to zip everything up, you simply want to grab a handle on the top and bottom and move it over. There is no way to move it in the horizontal position. I got used to simply putting my hand under the bottom and grabbing the handle on the top, but sure do miss a way to get a better grip on the bottom.

    Great bag for telephoto lens

    I had a old gura gear 30L bag that could easy take my 600mm lens on one side and 2 pro bodies, small lens like 100-400, 70-200 lens and Teleconvertors but it was time i had to pick a new bag. Only con with this was i couldnt put a laptop into the old bag.

    I picked up a new gura gear 30+L bag with provision a new laptop. I think this is slightly thin in terms of width but doesn't have any issue in terms of having my 600mm lens, 2 pro bodies, 100-400, 2 teleconvertors. Now I can also put my laptop inside. But be aware that bag becomes pretty heavy but there is no choice. I am happy i can take it as a carry on bag

    Our signature Butterfly style duel front access allows you to access the contents of your bag quickly and without exposing everything to the elements. Pack different variations in each side for maximum organization. Pro body DSLR and lens combos fit well inside the 30L Kiboko. There are also webbed zipper pockets on the outside panel of the main compartment for small misc items. The webbed design allows you to see the contents.

    Our History

    Solving for a critical need: Weight

    Co-founders Trevor Peterson and renowned wildlife photographer Andy Biggs created Gura Gear to answer a problem critical to traveling to extreme locations: weight limits on photo gear.

    En-route independently to East Africa, both Andy and Trevor got into some trouble with the carryon restrictions at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. “I had packed two Nikon Pro DSLR bodies and 200-400mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, & 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, putting me past the weight limits. It took some convincing to get in the air, "-Trevor.

    Talking over the campfire after a long day of photographing wildlife, Andy and Trevor discussed what the perfect camera bag would be. Literally on the back of napkin, the Kiboko backpack was sketched out. 

    Over two years of development, eight rounds of prototypes, and one patent application later (and one very frustrated factory manager), the Kiboko camera backpack was launched.
