Our bags are infinitely configurable and come with plenty of extra divider types to accomodate any setup imaginable. Our dividers are also made out of Artillion Foam which is the same stuff used in motorcycle helmets. High impact protection, low weight and profile.

Front Accessories Pockets

At the exterior of the two front panels are the bags accessory pockets. Loaded with zipper pockets, a key ring, places for pens, and enough space collectively to put a wind breaker jacket inside. The zipper pockets inside feature a webbed style so you can see the contents of the pockets.

X-Pac VX-21

In all of our gear we use X-Pac VX-21, a sailcloth-inspired laminated rip-stop nylon. This is the gold standard in materials for bags. Addendum to my previous 5-Star Review

Greetings! I just wanted to add that this AWESOME Kiboko 2.0 22L+ backpack can fit a Nikon Z8 mounted to the NIkkor Z 180-600 f/5.6-6.3 telephoto zoom with a BlackRapid sling attached! And that's on one side. The other side can accommodate a Nikon Z7 with NIkkor S 14-30 f/4 mounted, plus additional lens and of course, myriad filters, batteries and other items in the spacious front compartments! Not to mention the bag handled an unexpected sleet storm with aplomb. HIGHLY recommended!!

Well-made bag!

Tested it out the 22L bag on a winter hike. The bag easily fits all of my camera gear with loads of pockets for storage. My favorite thing about this bag is the comfort when comparing it to my Peak Design bag. I can have this thing loaded up with 20lbs of gear and hike all day without my shoulders hurting. The padded hip band helps a lot. Not crazy about the centerfold butterfly design but it might grow on me. Nice stitching and good zippers! I’ll continue testing it out.

no detail missed on this bag!

I would be remiss if I didn't take time to write a review on this bag. Am in love with the construction, durability, and overall detail. I've been through so many of the very popular, and very expensive, camera backpacks and none of them compare when it comes to ease of access to lenses and equipment in the field. And it's made for long-haul hikes. The padded shoulder and back straps are like that of a week-long trekking pack. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

I choose it, because I use it!

As a professional photographer for the last forty years, I’ve been through a few bags. I love the Kiboko 22L+ bag! Starting my photography career as a Marine combat photographer, I am not gentle with my gear and it needs to be tough and be able to handle harsh wear and tear. Currently as a wildlife photographer and photo guide, I travel to some rough terrain and this bag is tough! I love the butterfly design and I can fit my Nikon Z9 with a 400mm attached on one side and a Nikon Z8 with a 70-200mm attached on the other side plus a couple extra lenses like a 24-70mm and a 14-30mm! There’s also room for extra batteries, media cards, cleaning kit, and filters! It’s great to travel with…it’s comfortable to wear and it’s fit in every airline overhead I’ve traveled on so far. Please come out with a camo version!

Gura Gear…I choose it, because I use it!

Best camera bag yet!

Like a lot of photographers I've tried many different camera bags and I can honestly say none compare to the Kiboko! It is by far the lightest bag I have ever used. I love the butterfly design, I put my DSLR gear on one side and my mirrorless gear on the other. The zipper pulls are so easy to use, something I've struggled with a bit with other bags.
I highly recommend this bag!

With a surprisingly large capacity, the bags allow for some give accepting slightly larger lenses inside that go incrementally beyond interior dims.

  • Comfort

Designed to keep you comfortable while on the go, the 3D mesh back panel creates a soft and breathable surface against your back with airflow channels to keep perspiration at a minimum. A sternum strap helps distribute the weight of your gear and is easily removeable

Top Handle

A firm and generous handle makes grabbing your bag secure and easy. While you do the shuffle in line at the airport or if you need to get your gear up to an overhead shelf, these beefy handles allow you to grab and go.

Fantastic Bag

Bought this bag for a trip up north, on a bush plane, hence the need for a small bag. Was able to pack a Canon R5 with 100-500 attached, R6 with a RF70-200 attached and a RF14-35, plus 4 batteries a charger, a 14 inch Macbook Pro, charger and cable. The butterfly is an excellent concept, can take lots of stuff. I also tried, and can put the RF800, the 100-500, and the 14-35, the two camera bodies in it. The cameras have to be detached and put in face to face. Have ordered its big brother 30L for when I am bigger planes.

Great Little Bag

The 16L is a great little bag. Perfect size for a smaller mirrorless system. I got mine because I was downsizing from a full on Nikon DSLR system to a more compact Sony system. The bag is incredibly weatherproof. I’ve shot with it in the rain, wind and heavy snow and not one drop of water got in the bag. It also feels good on my back when hiking. If I had to make one suggestion it would be to make the zipper loops different colors. All 4 are the same blue and I end up opening the wrong compartment sometimes. Maybe one color for the main compartments and another color for the smaller ones where the accessories go. Great bag and tough as nails.

I simply freaking love this bag.

Ok, I had the old bag from back in the day. I was thrilled Gura came back. So I bought a 22L, not because I needed it but because I loved my old Betaflea so much but it didn’t have a laptop sleeve. LOVED the 22L new Kiboko. So…leaving for a trip where I would be on a small sea plane with limited size and weight, I ordered a 16L. THIS BAG IS FANTASTIC. Great size, holds what I need. Currently shoot with a Leica M which is obviously small, but I also have a Plaubel Makina W67 tucked in there! So there is room. Highest quality construction. COMFORTABLE to wear, which is rare for backpacks IMO.

Suggestions for improvement? Not many, this bag ticks all the boxes. Maybe an RFID pocket?

I’m so happy that Gura is back, don’t hesitate on this bag…get one. You’ll love it.

Finally! THE BAG I've been looking for

I have tried over 5 different camera bags in the last 7 years and I can't believe that I finally found my favorite.
It holds a bunch of gear, very easy to use organization dividers, even when it's full it doesn't feel too heavy and the weight feels very well distributed.
I love this bag and highly recommend it!

The Best Bag For Me

The GuraGear Kiboko 2.0 16L Backpack is the best bag for me as a travelling
freelance photographer that focuses on outdoor lifestyle and adventure. Its
small form factor and padded 3D mesh design on the back is perfect for
hiking and long adventures with its breathability but the customizable build
on the inside allows me to bring only the gear I need while leaving enough
room to bring along extra accessories or clothing if I need. With multiple zip
compartments throughout the front of the bag as well as the inside, I’m able
to store all the small accessories like extra batteries, memory cards,
notepads and more to make sure I have everything I need with me for the job.
My favourite thing about the bag that provides me the most comfort is the
easily accessible rain cover because my job frequently has me outside and in
all kinds of weather.

Our History

Solving for a critical need: Weight

Co-founders Trevor Peterson and renowned wildlife photographer Andy Biggs created Gura Gear to answer a problem critical to traveling to extreme locations: weight limits on photo gear.

En-route independently to East Africa, both Andy and Trevor got into some trouble with the carryon restrictions at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. “I had packed two Nikon Pro DSLR bodies and 200-400mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, & 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, putting me past the weight limits. It took some convincing to get in the air, "-Trevor.

Talking over the campfire after a long day of photographing wildlife, Andy and Trevor discussed what the perfect camera bag would be. Literally on the back of napkin, the Kiboko backpack was sketched out.

Over two years of development, eight rounds of prototypes, and one patent application later (and one very frustrated factory manager), the Kiboko camera backpack was launched.

Great Add-ons for a Kiboko Camera Bag!
